Get Out - Stay Out DVD

Every year people die or are seriously injured as a result of fires at work. As well as that there is an enormous financial loss to businesses due to the damage to property, loss of business, fines, compensation claims and insurance premiums.

Many fires can be avoided by taking simple precautions but if a fire does break out, the effects can be minimised by ensuring that all staff are aware of what to do, this can only be achieved with effective, regular training. Providing fire training for staff is a requirement of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

GET OUT - STAY OUT has been produced specifically for training staff in the procedures to be followed in the event of fire, from raising the alarm to the safe evacuation of the building.

Since the first version of GET OUT - STAY OUT
 was released in 1990 this title continues to be one of the most popular training programmes.

This latest version of Get Out - Stay Out has been produced to offer a variety of viewing options to make training sessions as flexible as possible. This has been achieved by taking the ‘core’ programme and editing it so that the disk includes different modules depending on the type of fire alarm installed.

The subjects covered include:
Fire Legislation, Raising the Alarm, Calling the Fire Service, Fire Wardens/Marshals and Fire Evacuation Procedures

Get Out - Stay Out covers all types of fire alarm systems. It is ideal for the consultant/trainer where delegates come from a variety of locations with different fire alarm systems. It includes information about single stage and two stage alarm systems and how personnel should react to the different fire alarm signals.

Module 1 - Single stage fire alarms (duration 13m)

Intended for situations where a single stage alarm is installed. To avoid confusion two stage alarms are not mentioned.

Module 2 - Two stage fire alarms (duration 13m)

Intended for premises with a two-stage fire alarm. It covers the fundamentals of phased evacuation and instructs delegates how to react if they hear an intermittent or constant alarm.  Again, to avoid unnecessary confusion single stage alarms do not get a mention.

Module 3 - all fire alarm systems (short edition - duration 7m)

This shortened edition of version 1 is intended for  where time constraints dictate a shorter training period. As with all previous versions of the program the key message is speedy evacuation.

Topics include:

Fire risk assessments/fire legislation - the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Raising the alarm;

Calling the fire service;

Evacuation; and

Fire wardens and their duties

The Burning Question DVD - 2009 version

This DVD covers fire safety/prevention and emergency evacuation and is suitable for training staff in most workplaces. As with previous versions the training is based around a questionnaire comprising of 10 questions, some of which are multiple choice whilst others require short written answers (click here for a sample questionnaire).

At the beginning of the session delegates are issued with the questionnaire, once everyone has finished the DVD is shown which then provides the answers along with additional relevant information.

The programme ensure that staff become involved in the training, and gives the trainer the opportunity to assess what staff have retained from previous training sessions.

The completed questionnaires also provide a permanent training record.

Running time 25m.

Focus on Fire DVD  – Induction Training

Making sure that everyone knows what to do if a fire breaks out not only makes good business sense, but it is also the law. As soon as a new member of staff starts working at your premises they need to know what they should do if they discover a fire or if they hear the fire alarm.

Focus on Fire - Induction Training has been produced to help those responsible for training to ensure that all new employees are aware of what is expected of them in a fire or similar emergency.  Some of the subjects covered in this short programme include:

Emergency Procedures

Actions on discovering a fire or hearing the fire alarm. The role of the fire warden. The importance of keeping fire exits, alarm call points and fire fighting equipment free from obstructions at all times.

Fire Prevention

Housekeeping and disposal of rubbish, basic electrical safety and the precautions to be taken with flammable liquids

Chemistry of fire

The fire triangle, classification of fires A,B,C,D,F and the risk associated with electrical equipment.

This programme also includes a fire safety questionnaire which will help you ensure that your staff understand the important role they play in the day to day fire safety of your organisation. So, now you can make sure that your staff are aware of their role in the day to day fire safety of your company as soon as they have had their induction training.
